Body Language and What It can Mean

In this video you will hear explanations from Gwen Bailey (Behaviourist & Founder of Puppy School), about the body language that can be seen by different dogs and why, showing different examples across a range of contexts. This video helps to explain and show how a dog's body language can help us to understand what dogs are trying to communicate.

Dog Body Language For Owners

This video is a good introduction and overview for owners to start to consider their own dog's body language.

If you have concerns about any particular body language that your dog may be displaying, it is worth consulting with a trained professional who can give further advice. Many of our tutors are able to offer 1:1 consultations.

For cases of agression or where a dog's welfare or emotional state is compromised, a Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) will need to be consulted. You can find your nearest registered CAB through the Animal Behavour & Training Council (ABTC) website.

What Clients say
about Puppy School

  • “Attending puppy school had allowed Ozzy to learn new skills. During the classes Sarah and Adam were very friendly and always on hand to offer good advice and tips. They were also very understanding of Ozzy's needs as he can be a nervous at times.”

  • “Claire was really patient and positive. She was really helpful in giving advice tailored to the needs of each puppy and reaffirming always the value of positive reinforcement to help puppies make good choices which felt so much better than some of the 'corrective' techniques recommended by other puppy trainers. Felt like a very supportive positive environment. ”

  • “Frankie is a natural puppy instructor with bags of energy and knowledge. The course was very informative and very enjoyable. Both Sassy and I have learned a great deal. I feel confident moving on with Sassy's training and look forward to future courses. Course was perfect and a huge thank you to Frankie, see you at the next course.”

  • “Celia clearly has many years of puppy and dog training, handling and behaviour experience. I would definitely recommend her puppy classes to everyone as she covers quite a range of skills, in a relatively small group, which ensures that every participant is given equal time to learn and practice new skills.”

  • “This course was fantastic. Jenny the trainer has a wealth of knowledge. Extremely approachable, and gave sound advice to our queries. She really knows her stuff. The groups size was just perfect, which meant each pup was not overwhelmed. I would recommend the course and definitely recommend Jenny. She was brilliant.”
