About Carol

I have a lifelong love of animals having grown up in a household with a menagerie of dogs, cats, chickens, pheasants and ponies! The first animal that was truly my own was a tiny kitten that I rescued. It was when trying to find a friend for TC that I met Toby in the rescue centre. Fortunately, Toby being a puppy, rather than a kitten, didn’t seem to matter to TC and the two of them became firm friends and engaged in all sorts of mad games! Toby set me on a path of training that led me to have the most wonderful relationship with him.
Since then I have never looked back and firmly believe that training and socialisation of puppies is the key to having a well balanced, happy, family pet. I have gone on to rehome several other rescue dogs and have been involved obedience, agility and flyball with many of them. Our current family dogs are Bear a very lovable Cockapoo and the very lively Jet a young Border Collie with agility aspirations with whom I have the most amazing relationship.
I left my career as an HR Manager and Trainer in 2015 to follow my dream of working as a Dog Trainer. After extensive training and studying I qualified as a Puppy School Tutor and I haven't looked back. I now run The Happy Puppy Training Company and I am privileged to work with lots of lovely owners and many breeds of puppy and it is wonderful to see puppies grow in confidence and owners bond and develop a special, long lasting relationship with their puppy through training.

Class Information

Puppy School classes run on a Wednesday evening at The Fairground Hall, Weyhill, SP11 0QN and a Thursday evening at Penton Village Hall, Penton Mewsey, SP110RA.
During the 6 week course I provide training to help you raise a well adjusted, well behaved dog. During the classes you will teach your puppy to come when called, walk well on the lead, meet and greet without jumping up, sit, lie down, stand, wait and to be well mannered, friendly and sociable. I provide strategies to manage play biting and teach good manners around food, bones and chews. Puppy greetings and socialisation (for suitable puppies) is included as part of the course.
Class sizes are small so that you get plenty of individual attention (Max 6 puppies).
Families are welcome in class (Max 4 people with a puppy and all children 5 years old or over).
I use only positive, reward-based training methods and classes are fun and informative with lots of opportunities to practice and ask questions.
The course is accompanied by notes and homework so that you have plenty to work on between the sessions.
I send out details on socialisation should you book as there is lots you can do while your puppy is young to help them to develop into a well balanced adult dog.
I also run Follow On Training at 3 levels Bronze, Silver, Gold - so for anyone keen to progress their puppy’s training beyond Puppy School this is also an option.
